picking up on a conversation from yesterday.

i'm aware the origin of MLB jam is lifted from the, kantner/slick's your mind has left your body from "Baron Von Tollbooth and the Chrome Nun" with perhaps a nod to Paul McCartney's "Man We Was Lonely". my confusion stems from the bands official merch page. in typical GOGD fashion, they ALSO refer to that playful porpose in front of a schooner's stern, china>rider segue jam as MLB... huh?

my question, is there a title for the china>rider transition jam? UJB jam vaguely rings a bell, but i doubt it.

thanks for the clarification.

ian

Cliff Hucker believes that there is not one name for the segue between China/Rider.

UJB is only one of a number of "Themes" explored in the transition between these 2 songs. A great example is, of course, 6/16/74.

MLB, Feelin Groovy, etc. are other thematic jams explored or hinted at in these segues.

When you say playful I think you're referring to the Feelin' Groovy Jam.. Check the GD Jam thread thats going on, good link in there about jams

hi max,

thanks for your input. i'm all but sure the feelin' groovy jam is based on 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy) by Paul Simon. have a listen to the dark star from 2-13-70 and see if you agree.

btw, very early 1st quarter, michigan 7 osu 0

UJB Jam seems to be the consensus...it does sound very similar to mind left body so I can see where the confusion comes from...somebody on here called the UJB jam "happy snoopy prances on roof of dog house" or something like that...I can get down with that.
